A tree surgeon is a professional, qualified person that is able to carry out works to care for and maintain trees.
A Tree Surgeon and an Arborist (according to the dictionary definition) are actually the same thing, however, it is generally considered within the industry that a Tree Surgeon is focused on the practical work and an Arborist has more specialist and in-depth knowledge about managing the health and development of trees. All of our team members are qualified Arborists and have the knowledge to advise and support you in the management of your trees as well as the skills, qualifications and experience to safely carry out the practical work.

Tree pruning can be done at any time of year, depending on the type of tree. Some trees require pruning after flowering, some are best pruned in the summer and some in the spring. If you are unsure, give us a call today and we can advise you.
This is a local planning authority order that makes it an offence to cut down, reduce, crown thin, uproot, wilfully damage or destroy a tree without permission. You must have permission from the local planning authority to do any kind of work. We can apply for planning permission on your behalf for trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order and also for planning when tree work is required in a Conservation Area. See our page on Planning Permission for Tree Work for full details.

Some diseases spread root to root, others in the air. It is very dependent upon the type of disease and we recommend seeking advice as early as possible if you spot symptoms of decline that you suspect may be caused by disease.
We have an environmental commitment to recycle 100% of the green waste we produce by our tree operations. Woodchip is used on flower beds as weed suppressant; excess is used on a local organic farm too. Any logs we have left over are used as firewood or cut into lengths and sold as timber.
We do indeed and as a professional team we will carry out hedge trimming to a high standard and remove all the waste for you.
Stump grinding is the process of removing a tree stump after felling, using our mechanical grinder that literally grinds the root below ground level. This allows for replanting in the area and ensures no dangerous stumps are hidden in your grass and is the most efficient and neat way to deal with a stump.
Yes we can. This comes as part of our service, we will arrange traffic lights where necessary, the relevant Highways regulations will be adhered to and if your council needs to know that traffic flow may be disrupted we will tell them and arrange appropriate traffic control.
Tree surgery is an inherently noisy trade, with chainsaws and wood-chippers operating in normally quiet residential areas. There will be some disruption but we will try to keep it to a minimum and for the shortest time possible.
Our staff all hold the relevant NPTC certificates of competence for the work they will carry out. This includes qualifications for chainsaw work, climbing, rigging and lowering, pruning and felling. Staff are also all regularly encouraged to gain new qualifications to further their careers. Matt Long, our Managing Director holds an RFS certificate in Arboriculture (Tech cert.
